The commission investigates the effects of microbial metabolism and various biological processes on the physical properties and mechanical behavior of rocks, with the aim of advancing new knowledge and exploring emerging possibilities. This research field is defined as “Bio-Rock Mechanics,” with a focus on its important role in the advancement of rock mechanics, as well as on fostering deeper discussion and strengthening collaborative frameworks among researchers internationally.
